Accent wall in the bedroom

We are renting but I still feel the urge to make the place feel a bit more cozy and like home.

Today we painted one wall in our bedroom. I'm so happy with it!

The colour is called "Stormy Monday" by Benjamin Moore.

Life lately

Hi! It's been a long time since I posted last and so much has happened.

I had my bridal shower, which was great and better and I could have dreamed (pics to come :) )

My brother and sister in law had a baby, Aubrey, and now Pcase and I are Aunt and Uncle!

This weekend was a long weekend for us! We decided to get outside and enjoy the weather with some bike rides, walks, mini golf, ice cream, etc. We also squeezed in a little wedding planning (i.e. wedding invites). Hope to have them sent out in 2 weeks or so.
Pcase beat me by 1 stroke, I wasn't happy!

use a 2 for 1 coupon for this baby at DQ, yum!
Forget eating at the table, it's now the wedding invite station
The BBQ was a shower gift and we've definitely put it to good use!

Inspiration

I love the look of old library catalogues, but seeing as how expensive they can be this DIY project offers a great alternative! I'm inspired!

cheap chic...i think so

Anyone who has read this blog knows I'm a lover of all things thrift which is why I needed to post these pictures.

Vase: $1(thrift)
Side table: $15 (thrift)
Lamp: free, from parents house (were brass, now painted white)
Placemat: .44 (if I remember correctly)
Me: HAPPY!

Antique shops! / Easter Pics

Today I spent the evening with my friend Jess! We went to an awesome antique shop, honestly you could have spent 3 hours in this place. It just seemed to go on and on and each item was better/more interesting/unique than the next. I need to go back soon. The price points were all over the place and we were both surprised at the mix of expensive/reasonably priced items.

This is quick but I wanted to post some pictures from Easter. I actually forgot I had taken these. Enjoy!

Easter weekend

We're home! It's Easter weekend! So far it's been jam packed and I'm sure tomorrow will not disappoint.

Bought these on a states-side shopping trip. I was in need of new runners badly, my old ones have holes!

Earlier today my Mom and I tackled some errands including: going to order a cake for my wedding shower (order in!), going to inquire about wedding dress alternations (information gathered!), finally made it to the jewellers to have a ring re-sized (a few years ago Pcase gave me a beautiful white gold band, so I'm having it re-sized to fit my wedding ring finger), and bought food/flowers for tomorrows Easter dinner.

Whiskey Tour

This weekend we hosted a Whiskey Tour. It was Pcase's idea. We had about 15 people over, 10 or so were taking part in the Whiskey Tour. Basically each person brings over a bottle of whiskey (for our party they had decided to all get higher end whiskey/scotch/bourbon's ~$50 and up). Pcase did a little research on each bottle and provided a description of the "nose" "palate" "finish". We also made it a pot luck so there was lots of food to go around (sushi, grape leaves, chips, dips, vegi's, steak, meatball, cake, the list goes on, YUM!) We are thinking we might continue this tradition with wines (red and white) and possibly other liquors. I think it would be fun to do a blind taste test to compare different price points.

Today it was beautiful out so we took a 1 1/2 hr walk, almost 8 km and it felt GREAT! I can't wait until Spring/Summer!!!

Check out our weekend pictures.

registries

Hi! I know it's been a LONG while since the last post. Sorry.

Tonight we are going for our wedding gift registry consultation and scanning! I'm excited but also nervous. There are so many choices! Take blenders for example, do we want glass or plastic? What colour, what brand, what PRICE? Speaking of price, I cannot believe how expensive everything is! Good thing we aren't "only buy top of the line" people.

Shower invites are printed and almost ready to go out! Things are coming together but there is also still so much to do.

I quit one of my part time jobs today. I am sad but when I look at my goals and where I'd like to be in the next few years this decision makes sense. Plus, I will be working 5 days a week instead of 7 and that is a good thing :)
